About Peter S. Dotsikas
Peter S. Dotsikas has had a solid reputation in criminal law for two decades. He was called to the Bar in 1991, beginning his career as a Crown Attorney in Toronto. He prosecuted several high profile cases including homicides, robberies, frauds and sexual assaults.
After eight years in the Crown’s office, Peter left to start his own private practice as a criminal defence lawyer. Known for his analytical and charismatic style in the courtroom, Peter has successfully defended clients charged with a broad range of criminal offences such as: drinking and driving; trafficking and possessing illegal drugs; assault causing bodily harm; and domestic assault.
In September 2008, Peter was one of four owners who acquired XCopper Legal Services (XCopper), one of Canada’s most recognized paralegal firms.
Peter is an active member of several professional and community groups including the Criminal Lawyers Association, and the Alumni Association for McGill University and Upper Canada College. He is a past board member for the Government of Ontario’s Office of the Victims of Crime. He is also an active member of the Liberal Party of Canada and has worked on several political and mayoral campaigns. A passionate proponent of the arts, Peter has been a member of the Canadian Opera Company’s President’s Council for over a decade.
Peter has participated in several conferences and seminars and has spoken on a variety of legal issues such as drinking and driving, sexual assault, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and evidence. He also presented at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer, Ontario as part of their homicide course.
Peter holds several degrees and accreditations including a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’sUniversity Law School, a Master of Arts in Political Science from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from McGill University. His educational pursuits also took Peter to Paris, France where he studied at the Institute d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and Université de Sorbonne.
