JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Paralegal (Court Agent)

Location: Hamilton

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: Monday – Thursday (8:30am-5:30pm), Friday (8:30am-5:00pm)

Salary: Based upon experience (Competitive compensation packages offered)

We are looking for a Licensed Paralegal to join our Hamilton team!
This role consists of attending court to represent our clients in a professional manner. As well as contributing to the day-to-day sales and administration of the office, including but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional service to prospective & active clients
  • Provide in person, telephone & email consultations for prospective clients
  • Accurately schedule client files
  • Attend court to represent clients in a professional manner
  • Provide professional correspondence with the courts, agents, clients & co-workers
  • Ensure confidentiality of all corporate & client information
  • Review and draft legal documents
  • Maintain general correspondence via telephone, email & fax inquires
  • Request required documentation from the courts
  • Request, receive & review disclosures
  • Conduct legal research
  • Conduct reconciliation & bank deposits of daily sales
  • Verify agent invoices
  • Comply with all corporate policies & procedures
  • Assist with other clerical duties such as: data entry, archiving & maintaining company records

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Paralegal License
  • Must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of the POA/HTA & Criminal Code of Canada
  • Must have the ability to multitask & prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must have good time management skills & pay close attention to detail

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of previous Paralegal experience (Required)
  • Previous trial experience (Required)
