What to Do If You Have a Court Date During the Times that Court Proceedings Are Suspended
The Ontario Court of Justice has suspended court proceedings for all matters to do with the Provincial Offences Act (e.g., traffic tickets and offences under provincial legislation) until May 29th, 2020. That date may change, according to how the efforts to manage the spread of COVID-19 progress.
If you have a court appearance scheduled while court proceedings are suspended, do not attend court. Your court time will be rescheduled to a later date. When the courts are able to reschedule court dates, a notice of your new court date will be sent to you by regular mail to the address on file with the court. You will be expected to attend court on the rescheduled date(s).
Again, if we can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. These are trying times for everyone and if we can clear up any confusion you have about your traffic tickets or criminal charges, we are happy to do so.
Until we see better days, please stay safe, stay healthy and stay home.
